Steps 07

Continuing with the Edit Path, shape the petals of your rose bud.

Shift nodes and pull handles to form them as you desire.  The image to the left gives an example of what I did.

Steps 08

Activate the Paintbrush Tool Paintbrush Tool set the color to black, the size to 1, soften paint edge at 2 and click on the paint as object (lightning bolt icon).

Doodle some lines on the petals and leaves.

When done, save your ufo.  Right click and duplicate it three times; close out the original.

Now to experiment!

On your first duplicate, right click, select all then right click and merge as single.  Go to Effects, Artistic and select Cartoon.  Here you can play with the settings.  In the first image below the settings were:  Style/flat, Detail/30, Trace edges checked, Color/Black, Thickness/2 and Threshold/17.  Save your ufo and close.

On your second duplicate, right click, select all then right click and merge as single.  Go to Effects, Artistic and select Impressionist.  Play with the settings.  In the second image below the settings were:  Density/14, Stroke length/17, Stroke width/5, Size Variation/60, Color Variation/19, Stroke Opacity/80 and use the first texture.  Save your ufo and close.

For the last duplicate, select a shape then go to Edit, Fill, Gradient tab, right click on the the color boxes and select windows color picker selecting one light shade and one dark shade.  Under the fill type experiment!
