Step 01

Create a new image 400 w x 400 h.  Activate the Outline Drawing Tool Outline Drawing Tool and create a star 365w x 349h using the color #106E1D and a line width of 2.

Step 01:  Activate the Paint Brush Tool Paint Brush Tool and change the settings as follows:  color of your choice (it will be changed later), brush shape - circle, brush head size - 4, and soften paint edges set to 1.

Click on the "paint as object" icon (the lightning bolt) and create small strokes around the inner and outer star as shown in the image to your left.

Don't fuss as there will be other layers and if need be you will be able to edit it later.

Step 02

Step 03

Step 02:  Go to Edit, Trace Edges, Selection Marquee and accept the default settings.

On the attribute tool bar, change the mode from "horizonally deform" to 2D.  Click on the color swatch and change to #0E611B with a 1 width black border.

In your layer manager, right click and delete the second layer as you no longer need it.

Label your outline as "star-base" and your first layer as "star-01".

Step 04

Follow the above Step 01 and in Step 02 change the color to #1E9D1E and labeling your layer as "star-02".

Follow the above Step 01 changing the brush head size to 3.

Complete Step 02 with the color to #22B522 and labeling your layer as "star-03".

Your image will look similar to the down sized image to your left.  If you need to do any editing, select the layer then click the edit path tool to make adjustments.

Step 05

To create the berries, make a 2D circle 17 diameter using the color #87000D with a 1 width black border.

Create a second 2D circle 8 diameter with no border then make a polygon 4-pt star using the #FFC4CA with no border.

Place as shown in the enlarged image to your left.  In the layer manager, holding the shift key of your keyboard, select all 3 shapes then right click group and label "berries".

Step 06

Right click and duplicate your berries as needed placing sporadically around your star.  You can create smaller berries using the steps above or if your prefer use the transform tool to decrease the size.

In your layer manager, you can drag berries below various layers of star branches as shown in the image to your left.

Now for the bow, activate the paintbrush, the brush head size to 15, soften paint edges to 2 and click on the "paint as object" icon.   Paint a blob similar to that in the first image below.  No need to be fancy as it will change.

When done, click on the "paint as object" icon to de-activate, go to Edit, Trace Edges, and accept the default settings for Selection Marquee.  On the attribute tool bar, change the color to #FFBF00 with a 1 width black border.  In the layer manager, delete the second layer as you no longer need it.

Activate the edit path tool to adjust nodes as needed.  See the second and third images below.

Back to the paint brush, change the brush head size to 10, as before click on the "paint as object" icon and paint a second blob similar to that in the fourth image below.

As before go to Edit, Trace Edges, and accept the default settings for Selection Marquee.  On the attribute tool bar, change the color to #D7A100 with a 1 width black border.  In the layer manager, delete the second layer as you no longer need it.  Activate the edit path tool to add, delete or pull handles to shape as shown in the fifth image below.

Using the paintbrush, brush head size 2, soften edges 2, paint two black lines as shown in the last image below.

Step 07     Step 08     Step 09     Step 10     Step 11     Step 12

In the layer manager, group and label your bow shapes then right click, duplicate and use the transform tool to "flip horizontally".

Use the arrow key on your keyboard to position your duplicate and allow space in the center for the knot.  Using the steps above create a blob for your knot, when you get to changing the horizontal deform, change the color to #FFCF3E.

Custom Shape F147 Step 13

Using custom shape F147, create a ribbon tail 121w x 29h using the color #FFC822 with a 1 width black border.  Rotate with the transform tool to angle as shown in the image to your left.

Right click, duplicate, use the transform tool to "flip horizontally" and the arrow key on your keyboard to position.

Using the method you learned in Step 01 and 02, create a few pine needs to hide the end of your ribbon tail as shown in the image to your left.  You can also place a berry or two where the tail meets the pine to hide the edge.

Step 14
Step 15

Duplicate your ribbon tails and place in the opposite direction as your previous ribbon tail.  See the image to your left.

Right click on each one individually, select arrange then send to back.

To change the ends of your ribbon tails as shown in the image to your left, activate the edit path tool.

On the attribute tool bar, click the plus sign and add a node in the center of the bottom line.  Click the pick point on the attribute tool bar then click on that center node and pull it inward.

Save your ufo one final time!
