Open a new image 400 w x 400 h. Activate the Path Drawing Tool
,
create the following 2D path shapes using black as the color:
Rounded Rectangle ~ 185w x 209h, Circle 136 in diameter,
Oval ~ 45w x 68h, Oval 56w x 86h, Oval 67w x 37h
Using the Transform Tool set to "rotate freely", position the shapes you created as shown in the diagram to your left. Don't worry if they are not exact as we will be using edit path shortly to do some adjusting.
Activate the Line & Arrow Tool to create a tail for your cat. Use 12 for the line width. As you can see in the diagram to the left the tail is a bit rough. No worry, place it into position.
Right click, select all objects then right click again and merge as a single object.
Go to Edit, Trace Edges, Selection Marquee and accept the default setting by clicking OK. Change the horizontal deform to 2D object.
In your layer manager, right click and delete "Obj-1" as you no longer need it.

Using edit path it's time to shape your cat. There are diagrams to your left to help.
Start with the ear, I pointed mine you may wish a more rounded ear for your cat.
When satisfied move on to the nose and front of the face. Experiment moving the nodes and pulling handles, if something goes amuck it is easy to fix with the undo button.
Next work on the front paw, it doesn't have to be too fancy for this project as the pumpkins will cover that area, however, you may want to use your cat for another project.
|
Time to work on the cat tail. Some of the straight lines change to curves for a smoother flow.
Feel free to experiment! The diagram to the above is a guide to help.
|
Fine tune the cat with some curves to the body as shown above. Add or delete nodes as needed; pull node handles to help shape.
When done, save your cat one final time as a ufo!

Activate the path drawing tool and create a 2D oval 62w x 133h. I used #FF5015 for the orange and added a black border of 1 width.
Duplicate and change the color to #FF4000. Duplicate this oval and in the layer manager, drag both below your first oval positioning similar to the diagram to your left.
Using the paintbrush in "paint as object" mode, paint a stem-like shape. Click off the "paint as object" mode when done.
Go to Edit, Trace Edges, Selection Marquee and accept the default setting by clicking OK. Change the horizontal deform to 2D object, the color to #A56300 and add a 1 width black border.
Use the edit path to add some shape to your stem. Remember to delete the previous object in your layer manager.

Follow the above steps to create a leaf for your pumpkin. To change the color, right click on your square and select gradient fil. Click on the first color square changing to #21672B and the second to #3ABA4E. The fill type depends on your leaf position, I use the darker shade in the back of the leaf and the lighter for the front. For the 1 width border use color #0E3513.
Using the Line & Arrow Tool set on spline, to create vein lines with the color #0E3513.
I used the paint brush in "paint as object" mode, color set to #0E3513 to create a small shape at the tip of the leaf. Go to the layer manager, holding down the shift key select then group all your leaf pieces and label "leaf".

Activate the path drawing tool, create a second 2D pumpkin 60w x 89h and duplicate. Use the same colors and technique as you did for the first pumpkin.
Create a new stem using the same technique you previously used. Duplicate your leaf object and use the transform tool to resize it.
When finished, select, group and label your small pumpkin in the layer manager.
Duplicate and use the transform tool to flip horizontally. Place both small pumpkins in the back of your larger pumpkin.
Use the Line & Arrow Tool set to spline to create highlights for the small pumpkin on the left and the front pumpkin using color #FF9B79.
Use the Line & Arrow Tool set to freehand to create curlys for your pumpkins using color #1C5B27.

Activate the path drawing tool and create a 2D circle 368 diameter using the color #FFBF00 with a 1 width black border.
Create a second 2D circle 307 diameter using the color #FFC924 with no border. Place to the top right of your first circle.
Create a third 2D circle 242 diameter using the color #FFD148 with no border. Place to the top right of your second circle.
Create you last 2D circle 162 diameter using the color #FFDB6F with no border. Place to the top right of your third circle.
In your layer manager, select all your circles, group and label "moon". Right click, arrange and send back.
