IMPORTANT: As soon as you complete Step 1, save your work as a ufo.

Steps 01

Open a new image 250w x 250h.  Activate the Path Drawing Tool Path Drawing Tool, use the custom heart shape to create a heart 121w x 122h using the color #005500.

Right click, duplicate and change the color to #9DD79D.  Activate the transform tool, be sure the aspect ratio lock is on and change the height to 102.

Right click, duplicate and change the color to #469546.  Activate the transform tool, be sure the aspect ratio lock is on and change the height to 85.

Steps 02

Right click on each heart and convert object type from text/path to image.

Activate the burn tool.  On the attribute tool bar change the size to 20, soften paint edges to 50 and level to 50.  Burn around the perimeter of the small heart.  Do a second burn on the right side of this heart.

Change the level to 80 and do the middle-sized heart.  Now change the level to 30 and do the large heart.

Steps 03

Activate the dodge tool.  On the attribute tool bar change the size to 20, soften paint edges to 50 and level to 50.

Dodge two strokes in the left area of the heart and one on the right side as shown.


Use the same settings for all three hearts.

Steps 04

Activate the smudge tool.  On the attribute tool bar change the size to 20, soften paint edges to 70 and level to 30.

Lightly use to blend the burned and dodged areas.

Right click, select all then right click and group.

Right click, duplicate and use the transform tool to "rotate right 90 °" placing where heart points meet.

Right click and duplicate that one.  Use the transform tool to "flip horizontally".

Use the arrow key on your keyboard to move it into place.

Use the Line & Arrow Tool set to spline, color #005500 and 2 width to create your shamrock stem.  Burn and dodge a bit.

Right click, select all and then activate the crop tool.  Click the check mark on the attribute tool bar.

Save your ufo one final time!  You may wish to merge and save in your easy palette.
