Steps 01
Steps 02   Steps 03

Open a new image 250w x 400h and activate the Path Drawing Tool Path Drawing Tool.

Create three 2D circle shapes using the color #E9F0FC with a 1 width black border; sizes 156 dia., 115 dia. and 105 dia.  Stack them slightly overlapping.

Click on the larger circle and activate the edit path tool Edit Tool.  Pull the handles on the bottom node outward to flatten the bottom curve then pull the handles on the top to pull out slightly. Pull the side nodes outward slightly as shown in the first image to your left.

Click on the medium circle and pull the handles the same as you did for the larger one but not as far outward.

On the small circle just pull the handles slightly on the bottom node then pull the two side nodes out slightly as shown in the last image to your left.

Steps 04

Right click on the larger circle and duplicate.  Activate the path drawing tool, uncheck the border and change the color to #F3F8FE.  Activate the transform tool, change the height to 155 and position this highlight shape to the top left of your large circle.

Right click on the highlight shape and duplicate.  Activate the path drawing tool and change the color to white.  Activate the transform tool, change the height to 135 and position this highlight shape to the top left of your large circle.

Holding the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard, select these three shapes, right click, group then right click merge as a single object.  In the layer manager drag to the bottom position and label "base".  Click on the middle circle and label "middle".

Follow the same steps for the smaller circle as you did for the larger one.  For color #F3F8FE change the height to 98 and for the white shape change the height to 85

Steps 05

Click on the base shape, go to photo, noise, add noise and double click the last one in the second row.  Do the same for the middle and head shape.

Activate the Chalk tool change the brush shape to circle, the size to 42, paint stroke transparency to 50, the predefined options to splatter and select paper40.jpg.  Change the color to #598EE8 and lightly splatter the right and bottom portion of the large and small shape.

Activate the Burn Tool change the brush shape to circle, the size to 78, soften paint edges to 49 and the level to 57.  Burn the right and bottom portion of the large and small shape.  Change the size to 35 and burn the bottom of the middle shape.

Select all and place at the bottom of your image to make room for his hat.

Steps 07

Steps 08

Steps 09

Time to make the hat!  Create a 2D oval 140w x 36h using the color #1B57BC with a 1 width black border.  Right click, arrange and send to back.

Create a 2D rectangle 103w x 34h using the color #7EA8ED with a 1 width black border for the top of the hat.  Click the edit path icon, change the top line to a curve then pull the top side nodes down and outward to form your top hat.

Click on your oval, right click duplicate and change the color to #7EA8ED for the hat brim.  Pull the top node and bottom center nodes upward.  Add a node to the left and right of your bottom center node and then pull that center node slightly downward.

Create a 2D rectangle 104w x 22h using the color #598EE8 with a 1 width black border for the hat band.  Click the edit path icon, change the top and bottom lines to a curve, then pull the handles and nodes to form the band.  Match the sides with the hat top and the brim.

Right click on the brim and convert object type from text/path to image.  Do the same for the top of the hat and the hat band.

Activate the burn and change the side to 20.  Burn the bottom and the right side of the hat band.  Burn the top and bottom of the brim.  Change the size to 40 and burn from the middle to the right of the top hat.

Activate the Airbrush Tool, change shape to circle, size to 50 and soften paint edges 39.  Click on the paint as object (lightning bolt icon) and in a circular motion create a highlight spot on the hat as shown in the image to the left.  In the layer manager, change the transparency to 35.

Create a 2D white polygon star 26 diameter.  Activate the edit path and pull the inner node inward.  Place as shown in the last image to your left.

Flower

For the flower on the hat, create a 2D polygon clover 34 diameter, changing the sides to 7 and using the color #DCEEF7 with a 1 width black border.

Create a 2D polygon star 32 diameter, changing the sides to 9 and using the color #1B57BC with a 1 width black border.

Create a 2D polygon clover 11 diameter, changing the sides to 4 and using the color white with a 1 width black border.

Select these shapes, right click, merge as a single object and burn the right side.

Steps 10

For the eye create the following shapes:
2D circle, 26 diameter, white with a 1 width black border
2D circle, 20 diameter, color #0E2E63 with a 1 width black border
2D circle, 15 diameter, color #1852B1 with no border
2D circle, 13 diameter, color #3677E2 with no border
2D circle, 8 diameter, black with no border
2D white polygon 4 pt star, 8 diameter

Paintbrush in paint as object mode, 3 white 2 pixel dots as shown in the image to your left.

Use the Line & Arrow Tool on spline, black and 1 width to create a small line beneath the eye.  Also to create a smile for Mrs. Snow.  Change the line width to 0 hairline and create small eyelashes.

Go to the layer manager, holding down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard, select all the eye shapes, right click, group and label "eye".  Right click, duplicate and use the arrow key on your keyboard to place the second eye.

Nose 01     Nose 02     Nose 03     Nose 04     Nose 05     Nose 06

Activate the paintbrush, brush head size 14-20, transparency set to 2, click on the paint as object mode (lightning bolt icon) and paint a blob for the carrot nose similar to the first image above.  No fuss as it will easily be fixed shortly.

Go to Edit, Trace Edges, Selection Marquee and accept the default settings by clicking OK.  On the attribute tool bar, change the Horizontal Deform to 2D, the color to color #E14400 with a 1 width black border as in the second image above

Activate the Edit Path Tool.  Add, delete or pull handles as needed to round the sides and point the tip of the nose as shown in the third image above.

Activate the Line & Arrow Tool, set the color to black, line to spline and line width to 0 hairline then create a few wrinkle lines on the carrot as shown in the fourth image above.

Right click, convert object from text/path to image then activate the Burn Tool. Using the settings as follows: brush shape set to circle, size at 12, transparency 50, level 60, slide your mouse along the bottom of the carrot as shown in the fifth image above.

Activate the Dodge tool and change settings as you did for the burn tool.   Create a few highlight spots on the top of the carrot as shown in the last image above.  You can also use dodge and burn on your clay pot, I opted not to.

If you haven't done a save of your ufo lately, do one now!

Jacket 01
Jacket 02  Jacket 03
Jacket 04

Create a 2D rectangle 47w x125h using the color #7EA8ED with no border.  Click the edit path, delete the two nodes on the left side then add one in the center of the left line pulling outward.

Pull the top left node outward and align the handles.  Delete the right top node.

Pull the right top node upward, use the handles to round the top line. Lastly, pull the bottom right node toward the right as shown using the handles to form a point.

Create a 2D rectangle 36w x114h using the color #7EA8ED with no border.  Use the transform tool to "rotate freely" and shift the sleeve of the jacket.  (The border is just for visual aid.)

Use the edit path tool to form the sleeve as shown in image to your left.  When done group and duplicate using the transform tool to horizontally flip.  Place into position using the arrow key on your keyboard.

Use the Line & Arrow Tool set to spline, black and 1 width for the line to place a border around the jacket as shown in the image to your left.

You can now decorate your jacket as you choose.  Have fun!

Steps 14   Steps 15

For the mittens, create a 2D rounded rectangle 30w x 45h using the color #598EE8 with a 1 width black border.  Then create a 2D oval 10w x 18h.

Select both and merge as a single object.  Go to Edit, Trace Edges and accept the defaults for Selection Marquee.  Use the transform tool set to "rotate freely" to angle the mitten then in the layer manager, drag below the sleeve. Use the edit path tool to shape your mitten as shown in the image to your left.

When done, right click, duplicate and use the transform tool to flip horizontally for the opposite mitten.  Burn and dodge a bit and then save your ufo one final time!
